WELCOME TO THE GQ 2008 EASTER COMPETITION WEB SITE

Gliding Queensland holds the Easter Competition annually and, for 2008, Chinchilla is the venue with Caboolture GC as the host Club.

This Competition provides an excellent opportunity for less experienced pilots to get competition experience.

The Easter Comp is noted for its friendly atmosphere and is as much a social occasion as a soaring competition. Catch up with old acquaintances and make new friends, see what's going on in other clubs and check out the latest gliding fashions.

Competition Shirts

Al Sim has designed an attractive Easter 08 Competition Shirt which will be available in ladies and gents sizes. These shirts must be pre-ordered by not later than 4 March and will be available for collection at registration time.

Competition "Officials"

In some cases relatively inexperienced people will be given important functions to perform during the competition, but will have a designated "mentor' to provide advice and assistance as needed. By this means we hope to expand the GQ knowledge and experience base.

The Easter 2008 Competition Philosophy

The aim is to run a competition that is fun, friendly and safe, while at the same time catering for the needs of all comers. Every effort will be made to provide a competitive environment in which the experienced pilots can be challenged and the inexperienced ones can learn, and learn safely.

Assigned Area Tasks will be the norm and will usually be set such that they can be completed at the minimum level while remaining at all times within gliding distance of identified and GPS recorded landing areas.

Safety briefings will be conducted each morning and on some evenings there will be brief seminars on more general aspects of our sport.
