Competitions

 

Competitions can be fun and are an ideal way to hone your skills and to learn from flying in the company of experienced pilots.

The following articles relate primarily to competition flying, but contain a lot of information that applies to local flying and cross country cruising.

There are two things in gliding which have the greatest potential to kill you if you ignore them:

  • Failing to maintain a good lookout at all times, and
  • Failing to maintain a safe speed near the ground

GFA Operational Directive

On 14 August 2003, the GFA issued an Opereational Directive on Lookout together with two suporting papers. These papers are in the MUST READ category for all pilots.
